A little trip across the bridge

Last night was supposed to be my 2nd to last night to work. Around 9:30pm I started to not feel well and began contracting about every 10-15 minutes which became about every 6-10 minutes after an hour or so. I called a friend in labor a delivery and she advised me to drink tons of water, keep an empty bladder and sit as much as possible. By 1:00am the contractions were coming harder (not unbearable) but definitely stronger so I went across the bridge from the NICU to L&D where I was checked and put on the monitors. I was not at all dilated so that was great news but Jack was not very reactive at first. I think he was in the middle of a nap. After 20 minutes or so he perked up and began to move more and his heartrate looked better. The midwife on call said that I should head home and rest - that I had probably overdone it. (Me? Overdo? With a baby coming on WEDNESDAY? Never!) So here I am resting, bored, wanting to get up and overdo some more, and thinking of a million things I would like to have done before Jack gets here. I don't know how women on bedrest do it. It must be miserable!!! I am very blessed. Jack is healthy and if he came this very minute he would most likely be just fine and dandy.
