Today was a special day in our house. Exactly one year ago today, Annie asked Jesus to be her Lord and Savior. It has been wonderful to watch her grow in her faith throughout this year. How amazing that God can work in such a little persons life. She has become more sensitive to the needs of others - wanting to give her own money to help a little boy in her grade at church who lost everything in the recent tornado. She has grown to grasp more of God's word and even choose for herself verses that she loves. The other night we were reading "The High Meadow", a book that her great Uncle Byron wrote to teach children about Jesus and valuable life lessons. Each story begins with a verse and we read one each night before bed. The verse was Psalm 100:5 For the Lord is good and His mercy endures forever. His faithfulness continues through all generations. As we read the verse Annie said "Mom, I love that verse." What a wonderful verse to love. God is so faithful and good.
We had what Miss Jo who taught the new Christians class at church calls a Spiritual Birthday party today. Annie helped make a birthday cake and decorate it on Thursday and we enjoyed every bite of it on Friday. We had fun talking about what the birthday meant and discussing baptism which she is still afraid to do. (Swimming lessons this summer should hopefully help that.) What a great day for us as parents who see our ultimate goal in raising our children is to lead them to Christ!!
