My Favorite Jeans....

It has happened. My favorite jeans that make me look like I'm trying to be "hip", trying is the important word in this sentence, no longer fit. Not for the reason that most of you think either. It has nothing to do with the person who has recently taken up residence in my abdomen and everything to do with our recent visit to Shreveport. I lived life to the fullest having Italian cream cake from Juliannes, White Chocolate Strawberry Cheesecake, Heath Bar Cake (thanks, Patty - yum), Counter Culture Yogurt with strawberries and sprinkles, biscuits with copious amounts of blackburn syrup so thick it could patch a tire, Southern Maid donuts and Krispy Kreme donuts when the Southern Maid was found to be closed on a Tuesday night, white chocolate covered marshmallows, a trip to the Glenwood tea room (we all know how I eat there) and various other forms of junk you can only buy in the Port. We won't even begin to speak of the amount of tex-mex, Cane's chicken fingers, donuts, cake, and did I mention tex-mex that Mark digested over the course of the past week. Oh and I didn't even mention our trip to the Louisiana State Fair and the taffy, pecan/cinnamon rolls with a huge "dollop" of icing on top that we were sure was ice cream since it was so enormous, corn dogs, and candied apples that we ate. We were seriously concerned that our new cumulative weight totals would require that we roll the Honda Odyssey through every "weigh station" at every state line between Louisiana and Georgia. To say that we are ashamed would be an understatement.

Indeed, it was not one of our proudest weeks, but it was fun nevertheless and we all had a great visit with family. As I said we took the kids to the fair in an attempt to make up for not getting to go to Disney World. The girls had a wonderful time riding with their cousin Caleb. Annie rode her very first roller coaster and loved it. They weren't the only ones who had fun though. While not exactly a ride on Splash Mountain or the Rockin' Roller Coaster, Mark was happy with multiple trips to the Bass Pro Shops and the two headed rattlesnake that he paid $1.00 to view at the Fair. I am starting to get concerned. Yes you read that right... The Bass Pro Shops! He loved it. This coming from a guy whose idea of camping is sleeping with the windows open. He admits that he loves the idea of camping, fishing and hunting, but he just doesn't want to actually do it. I can respect that. We did find time during the week to spend together just the two of us. Mark took me to Copeland's Cheesecake Bistro. We had a great time just sitting a talking without any interruptions. It is great to be married to your best friend. The food was okay but the cheesecake was fantastic. We devoured a huge piece in a matter of minutes. I know that is hard to believe...

As usual visits are centered around food when you are a true southerner, so there you have it. I will mourn the loss of those favorite jeans and many more clothes to come but I
WILL wear them again. I hope. If not it is all worth it for precious number 3.
